The post holder will work as an integral member of the podiatry team, working in community clinics, patient’s homes and nursing homes providing assistance to podiatrists and care to a variety of clients.

The postholder must be able to travel across the Trust independently.

This is a part time post (30 hours) to be worked across 4 days between Monday to Friday.

**The postholder will**:

- provide assistance in nail surgery procedures, Diabetic Annual Reviews and manufacturing of orthotics.
- input onto our patient management system, arranging appointments and clinics.
- help to manage the timetabling of clinicians.
- will work in community clinics, patient’s homes and nursing homes providing assistance to podiatrists and care to a variety of clients.

Planning and Organisational Duties

**The post holder is required to**:
- Assist in the preparation of the environment, including equipment and materials.
- Assist podiatrists in nail surgery clinics over the Ashton, Leigh and Wigan footprint
- Carry out Diabetic annual reviews across Ashton, Leigh and Wigan
- Comply with COSHH regulations
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of the environment
- Contribute to effective team working
- Assist in the manufacture of orthotics
- Monitor and control stock within the podiatry department when needed
- To work within relevant policies and procedures
- Book patients and patient administration duties as required
- Carry out duties required to assist the department to fulfil its contractual obligations
- Undertake any other duties with the appropriate training and support of the podiatry team
- Be involved with departmental audit as required or to undertake audit
- Undertake training and skill development as the job requires
- To deliver specific foot care education and advice to patients, relatives and carers.
- To follow departmental and Trust policies.
- To assist in the development and implementation of procedures and guidelines.
- To be responsible for the maintenance, rotation and ordering of clinical stock.
- To carry out other duties as required in line with role banding
- Actively participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to develop new skills and maintain and update existing skills.
- To participate in Individual Performance Reviews with the Podiatry Team Lead.

Communications and Key Working Relationships
- Communicate effectively with the podiatry team and other healthcare workers
- Using the spoken and written word and being sensitive to those who are vulnerable or do not have English as their first language.
- Assisting in the establishment of communication systems with all staff, patients and relatives to promote understanding and good will.
- Maintaining accurate, timely and legible records.
- Communicate in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures.
- Maintaining consistency within standards of patient care.
- To attend and actively contribute to departmental meetings.
- To ensure that all information relating to clients and staff gained through employment is kept confidential.

Responsibility for Finance
- To be responsible for monitoring stock and the security of that stock. Maintenance of clinical equipment and the reporting of any faults to the appropriate department.
- Promote effective utilisation of resources

Responsibility for Human Resources
- To participate in the staff appraisal scheme and fulfil appropriate KSF dimensions as identified.
- To comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the Mandatory Training Policy in accordance with Trust Policy.

Responsibility for Health & Safety
- Compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 - the post holder is required to fulfil a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

To actively report all incidents via DATIX in a timely and accurate manner.
