Pharmacotherapy Assistant
Exciting changes to the Primary Care pharmacy service across Scotland has led to the creation of new roles in Tayside. Pharmacotherapy assistants are now part of the team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working with GP practices, to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care whilst supporting the delivery of the pharmacotherapy service as outlined in the GP contract 2018. Some of the main duties of the pharmacotherapy assistant include:
- Screening and prioritising workload including discharge letters and telephone enquiries.
- Running searches using GP Practice electronic patient records and other systems to generate reports.
- Contribute to medication reviews of specific patient groups/individual patients.
- Help with the setting up and roll out of serial prescribing.
Excellent communication, time management and organisation skills are essential and successful applicants will be required to work independently and as part of the larger Pharmacy team. Experience in primary care is not essential as we are keen to work with people who want to help us build teams that share in our passion and vision to provide high quality care for our patients.
We are a friendly, sociable and forward thinking team that has developed over the years. We promote team working and collaboration across all roles to recognise the valuable contribution a good skill mix can make to delivering the best quality service and improve patient care.
