Stop Smoking Advisor

We are recruiting for a Stop Smoking Advisor who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Maternity service at East and North Herts NHS Trust offers an enhanced Stop Smoking Service to support national ambitions set out in the NHS Long Term Plan and Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle, to reduce stillbirths and improve health outcomes for parents and babies.

The Maternity Stop Smoking Advisor will hold the nationally recognised qualification to work as a stop smoking practitioner through the National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training (NCSCT). They will deliver the locally agreed stop smoking programme throughout the entirety of individuals’ pregnancies. Care will be delivered through virtual, in-person or telephone appointments to design and implement individual tobacco dependence treatment plans that include carbon monoxide (CO) monitoring, behavioural support and pharmacotherapy.

The role sits within the Maternity Stop Smoking Team, under the leadership of the Healthy Lifestyle Specialist Midwife, and involves managing the day to day running of the service; ensuring well organised, safe and evidence based care is offered.

The maternity stop smoking advisor will develop and maintain professional relationships with all relevant stakeholders, and regularly link in with Local Authority Stop Smoking Services.
