Job overview

To participate in the provision of medical equipment acquisition approvals and commissioning within Clinical Engineering at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. This will include the identification, acquisition, planning, commissioning, deployment and management of new and replacement devices following a strict compliant acquisition and approval process prior to adoption of equipment. The post holder will work as part of a larger team to process complex device information of both clinical and technical natures. The post holder must have the ability to communicate with NHS and medical device industry stakeholders to help support the Medical Equipment Planning Unit (MEPU) team activity.

The post holder will be based at the City Hospital campus.

Main duties of the job

Daily work associated with co-ordinating and supporting the administration functions of the Medical Equipment Planning Unit (MEPU)

Daily work supporting the chasing up of and administration of medical device approvals

Daily work associated with administration of equipment activity records

Daily work associated with supporting MEPU

The post holder will assist MEPU in preparing equipment and assessing equipment readiness for deployment to clinical teams

Assist MEPU with appropriate filing, photocopying, scanning and faxing of relevant document

The Medical Equipment Planning Unit (MEPU) is a hard working and dynamic team within Clinical Engineering, responsible for ensuring the
clinical teams receive the medical equipment technology they require efficiently and that the equipment is managed safely over its lifetime in order
to support the delivery of high quality patient care.

The postholder will benefit from working centrally to a multi-disciplinary Clinical Engineering
department and will be continuously exposed to the latest medical equipment technologies.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- Good standard of education, including maths and English, to A level or equivalent.
- Evidence of continuing educational development.

- RSA III word-processing/text processing or equivalent.
- NVQ level 3 in administration or equivalent.

Experience

Essential criteria
- Experience of administrative management and procedures.
- Experience in using range of computerised software including MS Office, networked systems and bespoke databases.

- Independent working.

Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of working in the NHS.
- Previous experience working in a service support environment.
- Previous knowledge of dealing with medical equipment and medical equipment databases.
- Previous experience administering service reports into computerised equipment managements systems.
- Proven secretarial experience.
