An exciting opportunity has arisen within Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire’s Scientific Services Unit.

ISO accredited Fingerprint examination work is carried out from a tri-force unit based at Hertfordshire Constabulary Headquarters in Welwyn Garden City. The unit is primarily responsible for analysing, comparing, evaluating and verifying fingerprints and crime scene marks and also utilises IDENT1, the national fingerprint system.

A vacancy has arisen for a full time Fingerprint Identification Reporting officer whom will be responsible for the processing and final checking of all case work including major crime ensuring the integrity of the evidence.

The successful applicant will be required to prepare and present fingerprint evidence as an expert witness at court, and therefore will need to be a qualified and experienced UK Fingerprint expert. There may also be the need to attend crime scenes and mortuaries to carry out effective fingerprint examination and recovery.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals to join our busy team who have good communication skills, excellent attention to detail and the resilience to keep trying when faced with challenging and complex situations.

The successful applicant will have a good standard of education, ideally in a science related discipline with proven skills in numeracy and literacy and also be able to comply with the entry requirements of the role profile alongside a good understanding of the ISO 17025 accreditation standard.

This role currently attracts an additional market rate supplement payment and weekend working allowances payable on completion of competency.
