If you are looking to start your editorial career with a renowned, global education technology and publishing company, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, collaborative Higher Education publishing team, to provide editorial and content support for their publishing programme. Reporting to the Publisher for Higher and Vocational Education, you will be a key point of contact for authors and other departments and will assist with checking, proof reading and editing for print and digital content. This is a hybrid working position but will require 2 days in their Andover office each week for regular team meetings.

Responsibilities include:

- Liaising with authors and reviewers as and when directed by line manager, a List Manager or other team colleagues
- Assisting with the drafting and administration of author and contributor contracts and agreements for Validated/Approved products
- Under guidance from other colleagues in the Publishing Team, help assimilate key information on our target markets
- Assisting with the Development and pre-Production checking and preparation of delivered print book manuscript files
- Ensuring that the Publisher or List Manager is aware of the development progress of all projects being worked on
- Assisting colleagues in Publishing Team with the academic review processes
- Occasionally attending conferences or other meetings
- Assisting with the preparation of cover design briefs to help ensure eye-catching front covers which work well in both print and digital format
- Assisting with the writing of back-cover blurbs and other product description copy which is later used by Marketing in their promotional materials
- Attending relevant internal meetings as suggested by the List Manager and Publisher to keep abreast of progress and developments

You will need to have good editing and writing skills as well as a ‘can do’ attitude to your work. First class attention to detail will be important in addition to your strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You will have demonstrable PC skills and will be well versed in Word, Excel and Outlook.

Previous experience of working within a busy and varied administration role would be an advantage but is not essential.
