Transport Planner

Founded in 2015, Freightways offers UK and international haulage, warehousing, container services, and pallet forwarding with the Palletforce network. We have an experienced team, a fleet of vehicles including cars, vans, 7.5t, 18t and 44t artic trucks, and spacious premises (with parking) in New Alresford.

We are looking for a Transport Planner for our Containter and General Haulage team to help support our growing company and oversee the operational duties. The role would suit a an enthusiastic person that is looking to progress and gain further experience in a supervisory position. Reporting to the Commerical manager.

The job description;
- Container and General haulage planning for efficient and cost-effective transportation routes
- Strategic planning to optimise the transport network and ensure timely deliveries
- Collaboration with our cross-functional teams, including drivers, dispatchers and warehouse staff
- Adapt to changes in schedules, customer requirements and unexpected challenges
- Data analysis to assess perfomance metrics and improvement ideas
- Maintenance of vehicles including servicing bookings, repairs and contacting suppliers
- Agree rates with other hauliers and suppliers and liaise with the Commercial manager on quotes
- On call hours to provide support outside of usual working hours

Desirable skills and experience include;
- Knowledge of Truckcom and all UK port VBS systems
- Industry knowledge and familiarity with best practices and current trends
- Strong Geographic knowledge of the UK
- Excellent communication and problem solving
- Compliance with law and industry regulations
- Hard working and self-motivated
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

A CPC Card would be an added Bonus, but we are willing to put the right canditate through the training process.

Salary details will be discussed depending on experience.
