**MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Observe and maintain all current Health & safety regulations as appropriate to the area of work.
- Maintain standards of tidiness in the kitchen.
- Participate in team meetings, management meetings and staff development activities.
- Maintain personal skills and knowledge relevant to the curriculum and to keep up to date in current methods appropriate to the area of work.
- Assist in controlling food production standards and levels within St. Anne’s.
- Maintain relevant documents - daily temperature controls; stock control; risk assessments within work area (equipment, chemicals and foodstuffs) in order to meet standards set by governing bodies and St Anne’s policies.
- Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of all areas as directed.
- Be aware of and comply with all the policies of St. Anne’s.
- Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be required of you commensurate with your general level of responsibility.

**The above duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive and may be amended to suit the changing needs of the service.**

**ASSIGNMENT AND REVIEW OF WORK**
- Starting and finishing times to be agreed by the Manager.
- 3 months probationary period.
- Annual appraisal from the Head Chef.
- Ad hoc meetings, e.g. sickness absence/return to work, as required.

**COMMUNICATIONS AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**

To provide effective and efficient communication and working relationships with colleagues, residents and the general public.

Maintain an awareness of current issues within St. Anne’s and impart information to colleagues, where appropriate.

**KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED**
- A sound knowledge of all cookery skills and equipment.
- Being prepared for Environmental Inspections and unannounced inspections by governing bodies.
- Good organisational skills.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and willingness to undertake further training including those skills and competencies relevant to the needs of the residents.
- Previous working experience within this speciality is desirable.
- Sound interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work well within a team and be able to promote a good working relationship, be adaptable and maintain a pleasant atmosphere and working environment is essential.
- The ability to maintain high standards of care within defined resources.
- Sound communication skills, verbal and non-verbal, are essential.
- Motivation to work with the elderly in a Care Home setting.
