Governance Adviser

Key details:

- 25 hrs per week,
- 42 weeks a year (i.e., term-time plus three),
- FTE salary of £34,000 (actual in the region of £21.5k).

Strong governance is crucial for ODST, but with governors and trustees being volunteers, providing appropriate and timely support for them
- when it's needed
- is important. That's the role of our governance advisers.

Working as part of a small team, this will be a varied role. There will be contact with those in our schools, acting as a first line of support, supporting training activities, providing quality assurance and perhaps even supporting formal processes. You'll also work closely with trustees, supporting their development, clerking committee meetings and helping to ensure that ODST fulfils all its statutory governance responsibilities.

Whilst you'll have excellent understanding of legislation, procedures and policies relating to school governance, it's the 'softer' skills that we're just as interested in; the ability to communicate effectively, to adopt a coaching style, to influence others and attention to detail.
