Are you looking for a job that is varied every day? An opportunity has arisen to join a small, established, dynamic team working in three areas of specialisation; Straight to Test (STT) for Colorectal lower GI Cancer referrals, Enhanced recovery for Colorectal surgery (ERAS), Surgical Site Infection Surveillance (SSIS).

Days will be spent seeing patients on the ward, taking nurse-led face-to-face clinics, telephone assessments as well as collecting and inputting data to the Public Health England (PHE) database.

STT - A busy, well-established service that receives all 2 WW referrals for suspected colorectal cancer.

ERAS - An evidenced based programme to help patients recover after bowel surgery.

SSIS - An impressive service that has reduced infection rates to be with the top tenth percentile in the country.

We are looking for a positive attitude, as well as strong attention to detail and excellent people skills. Supervised training period will be available.

STT - A busy, well-established service that receives all 2WW referrals for suspected Colorectal Cancer. Following telephone assessment, triage by the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) occurs and the patient management plan commences. Until their investigations are completed, patients remain under the care of the CNS’ and upon completion they are presented to a dedicated Colorectal Surgeon.

ERAS - An evidence-based programme to help patients recover after bowel surgery. Patients are seen in outpatients the week prior to their surgery, to educate them on what to expect when they have their surgery. We are the patient’s main contact whilst they are in hospital, visiting them every day to re-educate and allay concerns where necessary.

SSIS - Currently covering the categories of Large Bowel and Gastric surgery. An impressive service that has reduced infection rates to be within the top tenth percentile in the country. Continued surveillance includes monitoring wounds after surgery, collecting data from admission and post discharge. A key part of the role is implementing initiatives within the surgical team where necessary.
