**About the role and what we're looking for**

South Oxfordshire and Vale of White Horse District Councils operate three community centres on Great Western Park in Didcot. The Community Centres Team is based at the largest of the three, the District Community Centre.

The centres offer modern multi-purpose spaces which are suitable for a range of hire activities, classes, meetings, and events such as children's birthday parties. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to assist and provide support in the effective running of the venues.

**Main duties and responsibilities**

assisting with day-to-day operations, reception duties, meet and greet
processing of booking forms and invoicing, maintaining accurate records of income and usage
assisting with routine site checks
ensuring internal and external areas are clean and tidy, and safety is maintained at all times, for example clearing leaves, rubbish, ice as required
setting up and clearing away of furniture and equipment in accordance with Hirer requirements, including audio-visual equipment and soft play
assisting with the preparation and provision of pre-booked refreshments e.g. setting out teas and coffees when booked in advance
assist in marketing and promoting the centres and activities

The duties may vary from time to time without changing the nature of the post or the level of responsibility and the post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties appropriate to the grading of the post.

**Your essential skills, knowledge and experience**

ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
good IT skills and ability to set up and operate a laptop
experience of working as part of a wider team, working effectively with varying styles and approaches, and taking direction
strong customer service skills including face to face delivery
ability to lift and manoeuvre equipment
an awareness of health and safety
ability to organise and prioritise allocated tasks
previous work of a similar nature

**Your essential qualifications**

3 GCSE's at grades A - C, including English and Mathematics, or an equivalent level of qualification or experience
If you have the following experience or qualifications - it's a bonus
full driving licence and use of a car insured for business use
first aid and fire warden training (or a willingness to undertake training)
an understanding of food hygiene regulations
experience of working in a local government setting

ability to work flexibly and respond quickly when priorities change
an ability to take responsibility and display accountability
proactive approach towards work and able to use initiative
an understanding that this role will involve regular evening and weekend hours, and that shift patterns will vary on a rota basis
