Smith Brewer Ltd. are currently seeking an experienced **CO2 Laser/ CNC Operator**. You will be working Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.00pm, with overtime as required.

**Job brief**

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a **Laser/ CNC Operator,** using computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery safely and accurately to produce a variety of components from plastics, MDF, and aluminium products. In a fast-paced working environment you will be required to plan workloads efficiently to produce a wide range of quality components.

**Responsibilities**

v Prepare and operate Laser/ CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling etc.

v Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings etc.

v Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function

v Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines

v Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts

v Clean cut elements following machining in readiness for assembly

v Maintain CNC & Laser machinery and tooling in a proactive fashion to maximise uptime and functionality

v Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications

v Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result

v Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly

v Report all damages, losses or breakages to the Workshop Manager in a timely manner

v Assist with general carpentry and construction tasks when required

v Operate specific items of machinery in-line with company procedures

v Manage own workload appropriately and seek assistance when required

v Maintain excellent time-keeping and work to deadlines

v Undertake any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Senior Leadership Team

**Requirements**:
v Skill in operating Laser/CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools

v Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings

v Computer literate with basic understanding of computer driven equipment. Full training will be provided for machine specific operation

v Mechanical aptitude and good maths skills

v A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach

v Good communication abilities

v A can-do attitude

v Interpreting working drawings and briefs to set, program and operate our large format 3 axis CNC machines and Trotec 1500 laser cutter

v You should have an excellent working knowledge of construction techniques and proven experience working with CNC machines. A familiarity with Coral and Illustrator software packages would be beneficial but full training will be provided.

Starting rate is negotiable - dependant on existing skills and experience
