Nursery Assistant

**Job description**
- To support qualified staff with daily routines in the nursery.
- To learn the skills of a Nursery practitioner, (on the job) working practically as part of the team.
- To complete and submit work to agreed timescales.
- To show commitment to achieving the apprenticeship in the agreed timeframe.
- To learn how to provide high quality childcare to our children.
- Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting with toilet training and other associated welfare duties working alongside qualified practitoners.
- To gain a strong understanding of child development and how this is important when caring for babies and young children.
- Participate in the key worker system and be responsible for a group of children (no more than 5). Monitor, assess, record and report on their development.
- Ensure your key children’s files are kept up to date with planning for their individual needs, observations etc.
- Follow Building the Ambition and Curriculum For Excellence for guidance in your practice with the children and planning.
- Set up the environment to support the needs of your key children.
- Ensure that the environment is well set out and that resources are excitingly presented and accessible.
- Participate in free flow This aids children’s development in self-assurance, independence, making choices and self-selecting.
- Supervise meals and mealtimes ensuring they are a time of pleasant social To ensure all staff sit and interact with their key children where possible and to make this a sociable time.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £5.28 per hour

- g71 5pg: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

- Management: 1 year (preferred)
