Highly Specialised Practitioner Psychologist

For the first time Cardiff and Vale Local Authority, in partnership with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, are jointly developing a team to support and sit alongside young people and their families who are experiencing high levels of distress. The team’s core values are: Trauma Informed, Formulation Driven and Attachment Focused. The team will ensure that understanding of young people’s needs are centred around: ‘what has happened to them?’ as opposed to: ‘what is wrong with them?’ This understanding will determine how the team supports young people and their families at times of high distress.
The team will consist of; a Clinical Lead (Clinical Psychologist), Operational Lead, Graduate Mental Health Workers, Support Workers, Occupational Therapist, Clinical/Counselling Psychologist. Difference will be celebrated within the team through the promotion of a culture of learning together. In accordance to trauma informed principles the team will receive regular supervision, mentoring, reflective practice, formulation conversations and nurture days.
Building, maintaining and growing relationships is key to the team. Emphasis will be placed on working alongside and in partnership of the existing services within the local authority (social work & education) and health systems. There will also be an expectation to grow further relationships with others within the community.
We are looking to recruit an 8b Practitioner Psychologist to lead an exciting and dynamic new service to help young people who often end up in hospital due to high levels of distress and a history of developmental trauma.
The Psychologist will be responsible for leading clinically on the delivery of the service, supervision, training, and creating meaningful and impactful change. This new service will sit alongside the Enfys Team in Cardiff and Vale and have clinical direction from the senior clinicians within Enfys (OT and Psychology).
The post holder would lead on service development and build strong partnerships with other leaders in the wider Child Psychology network and beyond.
This post will be supervised by the Service Lead for Enfys.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
