The role of the consultant midwife for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is to lead on the National Maternity Transformation Programme. Be an inspirational role model to lead and transform the maternity services in Lincolnshire, with a particular focus on midwifery led pathways of care.
The role will also work closely with commissioners and women to ensure that maternity services are responsive to the needs of women and their families.
ULHT Maternity services are on an exciting improvement journey and are looking to recruit a dynamic enthusiastic Consultant Midwife to support continued improvements. The Maternity service has recently been rated good by the CQC and has been able to submit full compliance with CNST year 5.

**The consultant midwife key areas of focus will include**:
- Work closely with both provider and commissioning organisations to ensure that maternity services are responsive to the needs of women and their families.
- Work closely with the key stakeholders, including the Local Maternity Strategy team to support the innovation and transformation of maternity services in Lincolnshire, and lead the service re-design as described in the Better Births Lincolnshire plan.
- Provide expert midwifery advice to the Head of Midwifery, Senior Midwifery Team and obstetric colleagues, the Local Maternity Strategy team and partner organisations on professional midwifery issues; actively participating in advancing midwifery practice at a strategic level.
- Promote normality in maternity care, leading midwifery practice within all areas of maternity services.
- Actively facilitate and lead midwifery research and audit
- Develop integrated out of hospital midwifery services with all key stakeholders
- Develop midwifery led birthing units
- Develop a portfolio of Clinical Practice

The role of the Consultant Midwife is firmly centered in and dedicated to the advancement of midwifery practice and to act as a role model and change agent for midwifery practitioners. The Consultant Midwife leads a Birth Choice Clinic for women with alternative or additional needs and acts as an independent expert practitioner leading midwifery care to optimise birth.
