Sr. Technical Writer

Contiem is seeking a Senior Technical Writer with experience documenting SOPs, assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance documentation for products within industrial, manufacturing and consumer products companies. This is a position for someone who can multitask several small projects at one time and work closely with Subject Matter Experts.

**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Take a big picture view of large amounts of content, determining the content information model and best way to simplify the authoring process for this content.
- Write and update SOPs, assembly, installation, operation, and maintenance documentation for products within industrial, manufacturing and consumer products companies.
- Collaborate with Technical Illustrators to create line art to support the documents you will write.

**Experience and Skills**:
**Mandatory Skills Required**
- 10+ years’ experience in technical writing with technical writing being your primary job function.
- Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, journalism, communications or related field.
- Aptitude for understanding mechanical and electronic products.
- Experience with writing documentation in XML, such as DITA and/or S1000D
- In-depth knowledge of standards and best practices for writing assembly, installation, operation and maintenance documentation.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and general business communication skills.
- Experience working independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Demonstrated success working in an environment driven by budget, scope, and deadlines across multiple projects.

**Preferred Skills & Qualifications**:

- Microsoft Word
- Adobe InDesign
- DITA/XML
- S1000D
- Adobe Illustrator

**Optional Experience**:

- Adobe FrameMaker
- Help Authoring tools such as MadCap Flare, RoboHelp, or HelpStudio.
- Component Content Management Systems

**Work Hours & Location**:
Full-time, on-site, 9 am - 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday, at Sutton, Surrey
