We are delighted to be assisting this established Wholesale / Schemes Broker who have recently expanded their presence into the Yorkshire region after 25 successful years based purely in the North West.

Due to on-going growth, they are looking to add two experienced Commercial Underwriters to their team, who can either work from a group office near Harrogate, or from home in the Yorkshire region.

Key Duties:

- Underwriting and placement of Property, Casualty & Combined risks in line with a selection of schemes and binders
- Supporting a network of 300 brokers, with this growing by an average of 3 per week
- Working with the team to answer over 100 daily enquiries, which is expected to grow to 150 following some exciting changes
- Working with premiums anywhere from £500 to £50,000, averaging around £5,000
- Adhering to Underwriting authorities and taking relevant insurer facilitated training to increase this
- Being proactive, and ensuring a quality service is provided to brokers
- Using and coaching brokers on a bespoke processing system

Key Skills:

- At least 2 years either Underwriting or Handling schemes is required for this role to hit the ground running
- Underwriting experience is essential, preferably within an MGA or a Wholesale Broker
- An understanding of Binders and Schemes if desirable
- Ability to get on with brokers and lean on past relationships with be advantageous
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage the expectations of brokers along the way
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to professionally challenge decisions
- Experience with Property and Liability risks is essential
- A desire to progress and develop would be welcomed as there is scope for senior and leadership roles as the business grows
