**Summary of Position**:
To assist in the overall production and dispatch of customer orders and to adhere to health and safety regulations and procedures always.

**Role**: Yard Shunter - Night Shift

**Location of Role**: Carnbane, Newry

**Rule Purpose**: To assist in running of Logistics and Transport operations. To ensure the provision of an effective and efficient dispatch service to customers. While encouraging good Health & Safety practice.

**Accountable to**: Night Shift Manager & Logistics Manager

**Key Relationships**: Department Managers, Trading and Sales Team, HR, H&S, Customer Service, External clients and customers, fellow employees.

**Responsibilities**
- Monitoring Heavy Goods Vehicles across the depot to assist with loading
- Observing and adhering to Company rules and all aspects of Health and Safety Procedures and Hygiene.
- Maintaining a high standard of behaviour and appearance.
- Effectively managing own working time in line with the Road Transport Directive.
- Conduct daily checks on trucks / trailers, completing associated documentation, and reporting defects to Supervisor / Management
- Carrying out shunting duties including relevant maintenance and safety checks.
- Liaising to ensure smooth and efficient loading/unloading of trailers.
- Observing and adhering to site procedures at all times.
- Assist with warehouse duties in preparation for shunting vehicles, including wrapping of cages and pallets

**Requirements**:
**Essential**
- Grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English
- Hold a current and valid HGV Driving Licence
- Experience of shunting in a warehouse environment
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work individually or as part of a team.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Physical and manual dexterity
