**Key Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for overseeing and leading the estate team
- Provide excellent product knowledge
- Maintain plant beds, water features, greenhouse plant propagation, kitchen garden vegetables, herbs, and cutting flowers for the wider estate.
- Proposing planting and bed design in accordance to the seasonal and horticultural calendar
- Planning and conservation of forestry areas.
- Ensure all lawns and formal garden design are maintained with the greens team and wider woodland team.
- Responsible, along with the rest of the team, for ensuring that events are delivered, managed, and operated to the highest standards in keeping with the exclusive and historic nature of the Estate.
- Maintain an interest and knowledge of the history of estate gardens.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Extensive experience working as a Head Gardener or a senior member of a garden team.
- Preferred RHS / NVQ / SVQ / BTEC in Horticulture, Forestry, Floristry and Conservation qualifications
- Proven and relevant experience in a similar setting
- Detail-oriented and the ability to work consistently to the highest standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional organisational and administrative skills with a good knowledge of IT systems
- Strong and diplomatic leadership qualities with proven management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Knowledge of all applicable legislation, regulations and best practice, including Health and Safety, to ensure compliance
