ASIC Firmware/ Digital Engineer

Location: London

Duration: 3 Months

Start Date: ASAP

A client based in London is looking an ASIC Firmware/Digital. This will be for an initial 3-month contract.

Required to support the existing ASIC team to take custom RTL code developed from 3rd party ASIC development activities and port into Standard FPGA development card to verify correct operation.

Development of an existing interface GUI to control the target FPGA hardware via an SPI Host adapter.

RTL code delivery is a STI bus communication link with data to be loaded into several registers.

Identify and procure target FPGA card suitable for porting of delivered code.

Activities associated with code generation and programming into target HW

Development required to interface with existing GUI for data comms [including any minor modification/update of GUI code]

Read back of data registers and verification against transmit data and specification targets.

Generate appropriate technical documentation and test specifications/results

Advise on problem areas, improvements etc.

Liaison with ASIC Design team to ensure correct implementation of code and Software team for GUI updates and re-use.

**Skills**:Knowledge of one or more high level programming languages - HDL coding (VHDL or Verilog) and development using COTS FPGA boards

Knowledge of FPGA design, simulation and test using a high-level programming language targeted towards the Altera / Intel Cyclone family

Strong background in high-speed digital design

Demonstrated performance of Software coding in Python, C++

Skilled in FW debug and requirements capture, analysis and verification.

Competent with lab equipment such as scopes and logic analysers

Familiar with SPI bus protocols and timing

Competent practical experience for digital verification using scopes and logic analysers
