Our Support Workers work in a variety of settings including community-based services (often supporting people in their own homes) to our Treatment & Recovery Centres.

One thing that is common across all of our services is a focus on personalised support and tailoring our services to the needs and aspirations of the people we support with a diverse range of care needs (including Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, Mental Health Concerns, Complex Care, Substance Misuse issues to name a few).

**About you**

There are a few things that we look for in all of our support workers; we would need you to
- be a good communicator (verbally and in writing)
- be patient, confident and enthusiastic about caring for others
- be able to use your own initiative
- be able to work as part of a team
- have flexibility to work a varied shift pattern to provide 24-hour support
- share our AFG values

We don’t ask for any other relevant training or a previous career in care as full training will be provided - you just need a willingness to learn and develop.

Your pay_ - _our Support Workers receive a rate of £11.00 per hour for all worked hours. Once you are successful for a role with us, full details of your pay will be included in your written offer.

- Where is this vacancy based?_
This vacancy is based in Heysham, Lancaster.
- Who do you support?_
We support one gentleman here who has just recently moved into this property. He has a diagnosis of autism and a learning disability. He is in his 60's but still very active and quick. He has his own mobility car and likes to go out. He has a diagnosis of PICA so has guidelines in place around eating and choking risks and food preparation. He enjoys lots of sensory things and likes to carry around items that he plays with. He is none verbal but can understand short clear concise language. His staff team adore his playful character and his sweet nature.
- Where do they live?_
This property is a 2 bedroomed bungalow set on a brand new housing estate so a beautiful new build. It has its own self enclosed back garden and a drive to the front of the property. It is set just off the main road into Heysham.
- What would a typical shift be like?_
At the start of day you will support and carry out personal care for the gent as he requires full support in this area including shaving. He also needs support to choose weather appropriate clothing and get dressed. Then he can feed himself but needs full support to prep any meals including drinks and full supervision when eating due to choking risks. He likes to go out in his car, for walks, to parks, to local nature spots, for food. He attends a sensory activity in Preston weekly so must be able to drive to Preston and Heysham return. He likes to spend time in his garden. He needs full support with managing monies, administrating medications, cooking and keeping his home clean and tidy.
- What activities do the people that we support at this property like to do?_
He enjoys sensory items, music, watching tv shoes, being outside. Eating out.

Driver is essential as this property is lone working so the gent needs to be able to go out daily. Someone whom is ok working sleeps x 2 weekly. Someone whom is ok to have the ability and initiative to lone work, and be able to cope working with someone who is quick and active but non
