We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Cardiac Physiologists to join our very busy, dynamic and continually expanding Heart Investigation Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
This is a fantastic opportunity to experience paediatric cardiology, with the post holder experiencing Cardiac surgery, Cardiac catheters and Echocardiography.
The post holder will take an active role in the Heart Investigation Unit with duties including ECG, Exercise Testing, Ambulatory Holter monitoring, Holter Analysis and BP monitoring.
As a department we encourage staff to be involved with teaching and training, quality improvement projects, mentoring, education and generally making it a nice and fun-loving place for our staff and patients.

As a Cardiac Physiologist you will be required to work as a competent practitioner within the Heart Investigation Unit. Duties will include non-invasive cardiac investigations, providing adequate technical cover during the department’s normal working hours. Cardiac Physiologists with a background in adult cardiology will be expected to undergo paediatric cardiology training. The Heart Investigations Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital provides cardiology support for neonates, babies, young children and adolescents both inpatients and outpatients serving a wide population and incorporating highly-specialised services including Cardiology, Cardiothoracic surgery, Oncology and Hepatology. The post holder will demonstrate the ability and to participate in new developments within the Heart Investigation Unit. To actively participate in the training and clinical supervision of junior Cardiac Physiologists, Cardiographers and Clinical support worker. To undertake additional designated responsibilities to support the operational management of the department, such as ordering and stock control where needed, thus actively contributing toward the smooth running of an efficient and high quality service
