Your new role

National Highways are looking for a Network Data Analysis and Intelligence Team Manager to join our team based in the Midlands. Delivering timely and effective data analysis, intelligence/insight, visualisation and modelling to the business, you’ll promotea corporate data-driven approach to understanding, prioritising and solving business issues.

As part of the role, you’ll be responsible for leading the design and delivery of relevant and proportionate research, modelling, analysis, and assurance in relation to network data.

This role can be based from any of our Midland’s locations including Birmingham, Nottingham and Telford and will be worked on a hybrid basis.

What you’ll be leading on
- Provide leadership, direction, and management (tactical and strategic) for a team of specialist network analysts to deliver proportionate and impactful analysis that informs core operational decisions.
- Proactively lead the division in the use of intelligence and innovative data-led solutions and anticipate business future needs and network intelligence requirements.
- Negotiate, prioritise, and manage a complex and varied analytical programme to identify the highest value opportunities and improve the region’s performance and delivery.
- Manage regional implementation of the Analytical Assurance Framework and provide analytical assurance support to other regional analytical teams and the wider business.
- Inform the continuous development of relevant data sources, data storage/access and tools to support the business to achieve its intelligence-led objectives, including data assurance and automation of manual tasks to reduce waste.
- Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of a broad range of datasets, National Highways databases and theory pertaining to the network and network/business performance across road safety, customer, and delivery.

To be successful
- A degree in a relevant discipline or substantial experience in an analytical role.
- Working knowledge of analytical tools or models including Power BI, GIS, Excel and data query languages such as SQL.
- Strong leadership skills with experience of managing a team.
- In-depth knowledge of the intelligence cycle and analytical techniques along with experience of managing and assuring analytical projects in a leading analytical role.
- Ability to communicate complex information to a wide-ranging audience effectively, experience of presenting at project, operational and strategic level meetings.
- Stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills, ability to work confidently with a diverse group of stakeholders and challenge established business processes and working practices.
