The key purpose of the **HSE Lead** role is to maintain, review and continually improve and develop the company HSE policies, systems and procedures, ensuring the safety of all employees, visitors etc on site.

**Key duties and activities will include**:

- Ensuring compliance with relevant HSE regulations
- Maintaining the HSE policy and management system
- Work with the management team, advising on latest legislation
- Assisting plant performance, promoting safety and environmental improvement
- Provide or source relevant training/development for employees
- Proactively promote a positive safety culture, building HSE awareness among the workforce
- Carrying out regular workplace safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring any remedial recommendations are implemented
- Work with, manage and approve site contractors, ensuring compliance with H&S standards across the site
- Ensuring all statutory requirements are being upheld on site - COSHH, LOLER etc
- Ensuring high standards of H&S are adhered to, liaising with external parties when required
- Maintaining accident statistics and reporting, analyse trends and propose/take remedial active where necessary
- Investigate/arrange for all accidents and near misses to be investigated, preparing reports as required by RIDDOR
- Assisting and supporting in the preparation of risk assessments
- Providing support and advise to employees at all levels on H&S matter
- Lead by example

**Key skills and experience required**:

- Sound knowledge of UK HSE legislation
- Strong track records of implementing continuous improvement techniques
- Ability to devise and deliver H&S training
- Experience of Behaviour Based Observation and GEMBA walks
- Hands-on experience in a factory based H&S role
- Experience of safety audits and risk assessments
- Change management experience
- Working knowledge of HSE management systems
- NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma or equivalent
- IOSH membership
- Commitment to own continual professional development
- Tenacious and resilient
- Ability to deal with people at all levels

Hours of work: Monday - Thursday, 8.15am - 5.00pm. Friday, 8.15am - 1.00pm

Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays
