**Gardener / Handyperson - Carentan House EPH, Selby**

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to support the registered manager with their legal requirements under the Health and Safety at Work act.

The service providers support for 24 residents. It is important that you have good communication skills. Training will be provided.

Your role will be to ensure the safe maintenance of Carentan House EPH You will need to be well organised and able to build a good rapport with the people using the service.

You will be expected to undertake general maintenance tasks such as repairing walls, painting, and decorating and, where necessary, some emergency repairs.

You will have a knowledge and understanding of health and safety to support us in carrying out regulatory checks such as Legionella checks, fire alarm testing, emergency light testing and COSHH.

You will also be required to liaise with contractors, booking in repairs and servicing and keeping accurate records on our online systems. Knowledge of gardening will also be required, as you will be expected to start pruning shrubs and other general gardening duties.

You will ensure the health and safety of the service is paramount at all times whilst also making the outside area safe and welcoming to all visitors. This will include gritting when needed in the winter months, reporting if there are any concerns with the condition of the car parks and make sure they are used correctly.

The job is for 25 hours across 5 days and may include some weekends or bank holidays.

Applicants must have:
Good all-round understanding of property maintenance issues, and the appropriate skills and knowledge to react appropriately to emergencies that may happen within service.

Flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of a wide range of users of the service.

Training in Health and Safety issues, including COSHH regulations and requirements or willingness to undertake this training. IOSH training or a willingness to undertake this.

You may also be required to work unsocial hours, should an emergency arises including weekends, bank holiday and during the night.

A Full UK Driving License is required.
