As an experienced registered professional working at a Trust-wide level, the post holder will:
Have a lead role in ensuring that Velindre University NHS Trust has robust mechanisms in place for safeguarding, and public protection, including those required for the Trust to fulfil its statutory duties.

Have a lead role in ensuring that the Trust fulfills its statutory duties in relation to the Vulnerable Persons agenda for Service Users - this includes: Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities (such as sight and hearing impairments), Dementia, older persons, children, and Young Adults.

The post holder will be required to draw on / ensure access to high levels of specialist knowledge about safeguarding, public protection, and vulnerable persons national policies and processes to support the Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Health Scientists in delivering on the agendas and in meeting statutory compliance across the Trust.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply

**Specifically, the post holder will be required to**:

- Ensure the provision of advice, guidance and support to operational staff in Velindre Cancer Centre and the Welsh Blood Service to enable them to identify and respond to safeguarding and public protection concerns, and any concerns relating to vulnerable persons.
- Escalate key risks relating to the portfolio to the Executive Director of Nursing, AHPs and Health Scientists and / or the Deputy Director of Nursing, Quality and Patient Experience
- Ensure that Trust’s safeguarding and vulnerable persons policies and procedures are comprehensive and up to date, in order to ensure that the Trust and its officers are positioned to fulfil the safeguarding and public protection duties, and the responsibilities as per the vulnerable persons agenda, as set out in relevant legislation including: - The Children Act
- Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act
- Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards
- Violence against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence (Wales) Act 2015.
- Serious Crime Act
- Counter-Terrorism and Security Act
