As a Cook at a Perran Bay Care Home, you'll help to create a warm and comfortable environment, enabling us to meet each resident's personal needs.

With a large home, the Kitchen and Dining Room department is an integral part within the home.

To prepare and cook a balanced, nutritious diet within a controlled hygienic environment, contributing to our appealing and homely menus, ensuring the requests of the residents are at the forefront of our service. It is paramount to be aware of the residents dietary preferences, intolerances and allergies.

To control systems of food allocation to minimise wastage, thus ensuring the budget is adhered to.

Keeping the environment clean, tidy and welcoming. This means you'll have a direct impact on our residents, their visitors and all the staff working to support them.

To maintain the kitchen equipment, as specified by respective manufacturers. To ensure cleaning of the kitchen after use and, at the end of each shift, leave the kitchen in a clean and hygienic state.

To actively contribute in the preparation and cooking of food and the cleaning of the kitchen area. To perform other such reasonable duties as may be required.

The role comes with 31 contractual hours per week, on four days on, four off basis. We have two Cooks working daily, one doing 06:30-15:30 and the other doing 09:00-18:00. Occasional long days of 07:00-18:00 will be required to cover absence and annual leave.

You will have a caring nature, personable approach and good practical skills. You should have an eye for detail and a willingness to learn about the individuals we support.
