The PR Officer will be key part of our talented in-house marketing and communications team. The purpose of the role is to help raise the profile of our amazing life-saving charity to all stakeholders across the region, successfully developing the charity brandand raising its profile.
You will provide support to the Head of Marketing and Communications to effectively deliver the charity's marketing and communications strategy, working across the charity with all stakeholders. You will play a vital role in developing key relationships withregional media and in managing the new celebrity patron programme. Your focus will be to maximise media coverage and public awareness of the charity and assist in the planning, development and delivery of the charity's PR strategy.
Main duties and responsibilities:

- Develop effective results-driven PR strategies to maximise media coverage and public awareness of the charity
- Support the Head of Marketing and Communications with the implementation of the charity's marketing and communications strategy
- Raise the profile of the charity and be a brand ambassador, ensuring the branding guidelines and key messages are adhered to
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with media contacts acting as main point of contact for the charity
- Write and issue all press releases utilising multimedia such as photographs and videos where appropriate
- Proactively sell in charity news and feature stories which are appropriate for national, consumer and regional media
- Plan and execute PR launches, photo calls and visits for key fundraising activities ensuring awareness of the charity brand
- Manage the press phone (incl. out of hours) and respond to incoming live incident enquiries and other media enquiries to enhance and protect our reputation
- Brief and support the employees and fundraisers prior to media interviews, PR events and other media functions
- Identify and manage relationships with patients and their families and relevant links with hospital partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing patrons and act as the main point of contact
- Engage celebrity patrons to help maximise publicity for fundraising events and initiatives
Qualifications/Experience
- GCSEs (or equivalent):minimum Grade C in English and Maths
- University Degree or equivalent
- Significant experience of working in a PR or media role
- Proven ability to create and deliver PR campaigns
- Experience of liaising with press and other media

**Skills**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience delivering to multiple deadlines
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Knowledge of the fundraising industry in the UK
- Excellent interpersonal & relationship building skills
- Ability to work out of hours (evenings and weekends) as required in order to effectively deliver communications
- Full driving licence with daily access to a car for work purposes
