This is a unique opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues across teams, in a matrix structure, to ensure we can provide themost reliable virtual and physical testing/research environments to deliver on our customer needs.

**The role will involve**:

- Building collaborative and effective cross functional relationships to achieve a high-performance team environment.
- Working collaboratively with teams and individuals across a range of projects, changing on a daily or weekly basis, you will provide technical support across the facility to deliver research and commercial projects.
- Responsibility for a designated area of the facility. Supervising and co-ordinating the work of the Technicians allocated to the specific area, in collaboration with the Engineering team.
- Assisting with the training, learning and development of technicians, acting as a mentor and role model to others in the team.
- Working in collaboration with the Engineering team to deliver against project objectives you will work with the Engineering Manager to help prioritise workload and project demands.
- Providing specialist advice, guidance and support to other colleagues working on projects.
- Playing a key role in supporting the team to develop, implement, and evaluate processes, procedures and approaches as IAAPS grows.
- Working with the Health, Safety & Quality Manager to ensure your area is safe in operation and complies with appropriate legislation and best practice standards, supporting preliminary operational risk assessments and producing recommendations.
- Playing a key role in technical discussions and making recommendations on projects to assist in their delivery.
- Developing and maintaining technical expertise within your designated area of responsibility.
- Ensuring adherence to IAAPS Quality Policies and Processes.

**What do I need?**
- C&G, NVQ level 4 or BTEC Higher National Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Served a recognised Engineering / Vehicle apprenticeship in an engineering environment.
- Track record of working and delivering high quality technical services as a leader of a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Confident in a matrix based structure delivering agreed project requirements within time and budget constraints.
- Demonstrable experience of mechanics, hydraulics, or electrical systems.
- Strong communication and relationship building skills; ability to adapt personal style to different audiences, provide feedback, influence, and challenge effectively.
- Previous experience of working in an automotive environment such as vehicle workshop, engine build or tuning, tool room, or research and development workshop and an understanding of the issues to be faced in such a workshop.
- Experience of Chassis Dyno/Rolling Road testing, Vehicle Emission testing or propulsion system testing is desirable.
- Proven ability to work within a matrix structure, with experience of supervising and coordinating a team of technicians to achieve quality results.
- Ability to proactively manage competing demands and deadlines; comfortable and able to act on initiative and deliver outside of your role to achieve results for the team.
- Problem solver; ability to analyse and assess information and situations, and present creative solutions to challenges.
