The women and children we support are at the heart of all we do. We believe our services should focus on achieving the aspirations of every individual and be tailored to meet their needs and unique circumstances. We offer a range of services, including a helpline, accommodation, support for those living in the local community, advocacy and advice, specialist programmes, counselling and therapy, and children’s services. Our trained staff have expertise to ensure we can support women and children across several different areas.
**Purpose**
We are recruiting Facilities Assistants to ensure our environments are safe, secure and well maintained for women, children and staff. The role will involve a variety of Health, Safety and Facilities tasks from meeting contractors, to undertaking checks and updating records.
Being a Facilities Assistant means you will visit our different sites in the Wolverhampton area regularly, so the role will be ideal if you prefer to be out and about rather than primarily in an office. The postholder will require use of a privately owned vehicle with business insurance, mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
Ideally you will have experience of working in a similar support role and have knowledge of Health, Safety and Facilities Management. But your personal qualities are equally important. You will be able to represent The Haven professionally, work well as part of a team, and be organised with ability to manage your own workload and tasks without supervision.
**Main responsibilities**
- Be the first point of contact for residents staying at our women only accommodation settings, as well as staff regarding any H&S and buildings queries.
- Meet and supervise third parties on sites such as contractors.
- Identify maintenance issues or repairs needed around sites.
- Undertake regular H&S checks and inspections.
- Upkeep of various records, logs and reports.
- Liaise with refuge staff and Facilities team on H&S and facilities matters.
- Keep up to date with policies and procedures for H&S, helping staff to also understand their responsibilities at sites.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
**General Responsibilities**
- To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as maybe reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
- To have personal responsibility for maintaining personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and The Haven, by undertaking appropriate training and development activities.
- To comply with legislation and The Haven’s policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Confidentiality, Information Sharing, Data Protection, Computer Security, Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children.
