We are currently recruiting for a temporary Research Programme Officer for a central based Oxford University Department, starting asap on a full-time basis for 12 weeks.

**Duties**:

- Attend project meetings to provide updates and briefings
- Assist in organising the running of internal and external research meetings to allow the scientific teams to discuss and monitor progress.
- Assist with research group administration, recruitment arrangements and other research group activities.
- Undertake a regular review of expenditure on ongoing grants/projects to ensure they are delivered on time and on budget and provide expenditure reports on request. Manage the process of grant/project maintenance issues, i.e. extensions, amendments and managing restrictions.
- Assist in the diary management
- Make complex travel arrangements for international and UK travel including production of itineraries, flight bookings, hotels, travel insurance, visas and onward transportation. There are 5-10 overseas visits per year which require careful coordination, in addition to UK based conferences and meetings.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Experience of administration or project management in a research environment, public sector environment or other large complex organization.
- Proven financial aptitude with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce clear and concise financial/research reports.
- Prior knowledge of the financial systems used within the University of Oxford (e.g. Oracle)
- Experience of managing the office of a senior member of staff and providing excellent service.
- Experience of diary management and managing administrative process, including making complex travel arrangements.
- The ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload in order to meet deadlines, coping with unpredictable volumes of work without supervision
- Experience of organising complex meetings and/or national seminars.
- Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative, whilst remaining a good team worker.
