**Optical Experience is preferred but not necessary. FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED.**

**Background**

Robin Hall Opticians is a long established, independent Optometry practice providing medical eyecare, eye/sight examinations, spectacles, contact lenses and other related services.

We have a reputation for high standards of clinical and optical care, expertise in more complex eye problems, a personalised service, a friendly atmosphere and enjoy a loyal clientele.

**Duties**

Optical/dispensing
- Spectacle frame selection and dispensing single vision, bifocals and varifocals
- Simple frame repairs and adjustments

Administrative
- General office tasks - including keeping the practice organised, tidy, clean and stocked
- Patient records - creating, updating and organising paper and electronic records
- Processing post, orders for goods, invoices from suppliers, NHS claim forms and payments
- Managing social media accounts

Financial
- Use of till - taking cash, cheque and card payments, end of day cashing up and reporting
- Setting up and amending Direct Debit/Standing Order payments
- Reconciling NHS and other customer payments

Communication
- Being the first point of contact - for patients, suppliers and outside organisations
- Managing appointments in the diary - taking, amending bookings and confirming bookings
- Meeting and greeting patients/customers on arrival
- Establishing eligibility for NHS services, and explaining charges
- Giving basic advice to patients regarding their clinical and optical care (full training given)

Clinical/optical support
- Preparing consulting rooms for clinics; closing down rooms after clinics
- Taking information from a patient with an urgent eye/vision problem and passing on to optometrist in a timely manner
- Recording some pre-exam data to support the optometrist
- Performing post exam/ clinic admin procedures
- Assisting with some diagnostic testing
- Assisting with frame selections and frame display organisation
- Processing orders for glasses and contact lenses, and arranging patient collection

Relationships with other staff and training
- You will support the senior receptionists/optical assistants, dispensing optician and optometrists, through delegated tasks.
- Direct supervision and training will be provided by senior receptionist/optical assistants, dispensing optician and optometrists
- There is an opportunity to progress and develop extended roles in the future

Clinical Optometry support
- visual field testing
- Patient education - on contact lens care and eye care

**Personal profile**

You must have good communication skills, be well presented, confident, with a pleasant and caring manner, and be good at making our patients feel welcome and valued in the practice. You must be able to deal with queries professionally and empathise with people who may be anxious about their eyesight. You need to be well organised, accurate in your work, and efficient. You need to be able to work well as part of a team and to be calm and flexible when certain jobs need prioritising.

An understanding of the current Covid-19 guidance and changes made to our procedures is required, to keep yourself, other staff and patients safe.

Hours
- 37.5 Minimum hours per week, days to be confirmed. Lesser hours may also be considered.
- **Must be able to work on Saturdays**:

- Must be flexible to allow for staff holidays, sickness and variations in planned clinics
- Will be expected to work at our other Practices in the area to cover sickness, holidays and for training sessions

Salary
- Starting at £11.00 per hour depending on experience with salary rises dependent on practice performance
- 28 days paid annual leave (including Bank Holidays)
- Option to join the company ‘NEST’ pension scheme
