REPORTS TO: Student Support Manager

THE ROLE: Responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the College.

Duties may include working in all types of rooms, including offices, classrooms, hall, corridors, toilets and communal areas.

HOURS: 4-8 Hours Per week

**ABOUT US**:
New College Group (NCG) is a specialist college, providing English Language Courses to Adults and

Young Learners. NCG was established in 2011 and has schools in three vibrant student cities:
Manchester, Liverpool and Dublin.

We are looking for enthusiastic part-time cleaner to join our team at NCG Liverpool.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
The normal duties will usually include the following:
1. Providing a warm, safe, clean and secure environment in which students and staff can work effectively

2. To be responsible for cleaning the college as allocated by the Student Support Manager and following Health & Safety guidelines

3. The safe use of chemicals and cleaning materials as instructed by the Student Support Manager following Health and Safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

4. To operate cleaning machinery in cleaning soft and hard surfaces, e.g. vacuum cleaners and polishers following Health & Safety guidelines.

5. To maintain all College standards of hygiene and safety of all Cleaning equipment and Cleaning Cupboards in your charge.

6. To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of building or environment safety that may be detrimental to safe working practices and normal school operations, immediately to the Student Support Manager

7. To report any hazards, defects and any relevant factors of breakdowns of equipment that may be detrimental to safe working practices, immediately to the Student Support Manager.

8. Duties to include the following:

- Vacuum cleaning hard and soft floors
- Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors and polishing door glass
- Emptying and cleaning bins
- Cleaning toilets including sanitary fittings and surrounds on occasions
- Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces
- Wiping and polishing and straightening furniture
- Replenishing janitorial supplies in the cleaning cupboard
- Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work
- Such other duties as may be allocated from time to time

Skills and experience you will need:

- Able to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
- Punctual, reliable and trustworthy
- Able to manage time effectively
- Initiative and the ability to work without supervision.
- Awareness of health and safety procedures
- Work as part of a team.
- Be flexible to changing demands of the post.
- Take pride in a job well done.
- Maths skills for measuring cleaning fluids
- Must have high standards of cleanliness
- COSHH Awareness and Training - this will be required
- Handyperson experience - (desirable)
- Contribute to building risk assessments with Student Support Manager
