**We are looking for a Sustainability Programme Manager to lead the delivery of key elements of IGD’s environmental labelling programme and help deliver social impact.**

Our objective is to mobilise food and consumer goods businesses to develop a harmonised solution to environmental labelling for the UK food industry, to help consumers make more informed purchasing decisions.

**About the role**

The Sustainability Programme Manager will lead the delivery of key elements of IGD’s Environmental Labelling programme, with a focus on environmental data, methods, governance and assurance. This will include managing IGD’s network of external stakeholdersand delivery partners to inform our approach and maximise impact.

Also, you will input into the delivery of wider IGD sustainability programmes (for example sustainable packaging systems and healthy and sustainable diets), acting as an ambassador for IGD’s sustainability agenda both externally and within the organisation.

**The responsibilities**

Reporting to the Director of Health and Sustainability, these include:
**Programme management**

The project managing, owning and delivering of specific projects within IGD’s environmental labelling programme ensuring annual targets are met within agreed budgets.

Monthly reporting on progress against KPIs for your areas of responsibility - identifying risks, opportunities and recommending contingencies.

The Sustainability Programme Manager will be working with colleagues, industry, delivery partners and external consultants to develop and deliver relevant content for your projects (including reports, presentations, briefing notes, online content, etc).

And you will be developing your expertise, including interpreting research and evidence to make recommendations and to inform our overall strategy.

**Stakeholder management and communication**

Contributing to the preparation and delivery of project relevant industry working groups and wider stakeholders, you will ensure high levels of engagement with IGD and that they help to inform our approach and maximise social impact.

Working with colleagues across the Social Impact team and wider IGD, the Sustainability Programme Manager will develop and maintain a network of external stakeholders to support your projects, representing IGD at external meetings, as required.

Working with the Marketing team, you will help us to develop effective communications plans for your areas of responsibility, to raise awareness and drive engagement with our Sustainability programmes.

And you will raise awareness of Sustainability activities across IGD, ensuring internal understanding, supporting colleagues wherever appropriate.

What you bring
- The experience of working in or with the UK food and consumer goods industry, within a sustainability role.
- Experience of working in or with existing food certification schemes (desirable).
- Technical experience with life cycle assessment, environmental data, environmental labelling or behaviour change science (desirable).
- Strong project management skills - being well organised and capable of working under pressure, adopting a flexible approach to changing priorities.
- Highly motivated with the ability to drive programmes forward under own initiative and the flexibility to work across a range of Sustainability issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, experience managing a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- A team player with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the organisation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Educated to degree level in sustainability (desirable).
