Volunteer Befrienders

We are a long-standing charity based in Stowmarket and have a steadily growing BeAFriend service. We are looking for chatty, friendly volunteers (16+) who have some time to spare to speak to someone in the older generation. This could be either by phone, digitally, as a penpal or face-to-face.

The pandemic has left so many of us feeling lonely and isolated. Just having someone to talk things over with would make a massive impact on someone's day.

Could you be our next community hero? This is such a rewarding role. Training will be provided and access to a supervisor when needed. This service is county wide and a matching process to a suitable befriendee will be essential to ensure that you both get the best from the experience.

We have a huge demand for face2face Befriendees throughout Suffolk. Your expenses will be met, ongoing support given and the opportunity to socialise with fellow Befriendees is something we encourage.

This is an excellent opportunity to try a taster for a future career, gain rewards and work experience and to support your local community.
