We’re looking for an experienced Product Designer to join an exciting, well backed start-up team helping to transform the lives of dogs and their people. A purpose driven business, this teams mission is to get the training and development of puppy’s right fromday 1, helping to reduce behavioural problems in later life and reduce the rate of abandonment of dogs.
**What you’ll be doing**You’ll be joining as one of several senior hires helping to shape the product (and business) working work alongside senior product, marketing and tech specialists. This is a fast-paced start up environment but with the backing of a major brand so although there’slot’s to shape, you’ll be coming into a strong foundation. The product is out there in customers hands with some of the core features developed and working well but with huge opportunities to improve existing features and launch new ones. So far the producthas been designed and developed by experienced agency partners so there’s a great brand and visual language to work with.
From the outset focus your attention on understanding the app users and the dogs they love. You’ll be the voice of the users, conducting research to delve into the nuance of puppy training, the opportunities, the pitfalls and the habits. From here you’ll helpcreate wireframes, user flows and journeys improving or creating new features. You’ll take your work all the way to high fidelity UI with prototyping and testing inbetween.
Big areas they’re looking to develop are in habit forming behaviours that help people and dogs create great training programmes that work and last, in creating a community and engagement.
As the first in-house Product Designer this would suit an ambitious ‘all rounder’. The focus will be UX and UI for the app but any skills designing for other channels will come in handy from time to time.

**What experience you’ll need**:
- Previous experience in a UX design, Product Design or Interaction Design role preferably working with mobile apps (IOS or Android).
- A portfolio that showcases your problem solving and design quality; how you’ve worked from research through to UI.
- Excellent communications skills, able to bring others on board with the design process no matter their understanding or technical ability.
- Comfortable planning and running user research and testing.
- Dog lover or interested in dog behaviour and able to align with the mission of the business.
