Job Title: Theatrical Pattern Cutter

Location: Newport, East Riding of Yorkshire

**Job Type**: Part time (self employed basis) - Permanent (22.5 hours per week)

About us - Christopher Hardcastle Costumier is a small but ever growing company, based in East Yorkshire. We work with a variety of clients primarily in the pantomime and drag performance industry. We are proud to continually provide a specialist service in the design and making of high quality costumes.

Were currently seeking a talented Theatrical Pattern Cutter to join our company. In this role you will be responsible for bringing the client/costume designers illustrations to life. You’ll work closely with the Company Manager to ensure all deadlines are met and tasks are completed to a high standard. You must be proficient at using Industrial Machinery and have a basic knowledge of various genres and styles.

We’re looking for somebody with experience working in a studio or home setting who can sufficiently manage workload and responsibilities. This is a part time position working 22.5 hours per week, flexible between Monday and Friday. With a look into moving on to a full time position.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow working notes, drawings, and instructions to create patterns manually
- Develop patterns based on clients' measurements, design, illustrations, or photographs
- Create working toiles/samples before handing over the project to then Company Manager
- Skilfully work with and modify existing stock patterns
- Collaborate closely with the Company Manager manage projects and meet deadlines
- Show initiative, effectively manage and organise workload to ensure timely completion of assigned projects or tasks
- Possess excellent organisational
- To have a high level of communication skills in fittings, design meetings and in the workplace
- To ensure all working notes / photographs are documented on the design sheet
- Ensure any concerns or questions are raised as soon as they arise to the Company Manager

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

- Advanced knowledge of construction methods
- Minimum of 2 years experience of manual pattern drafting with a minimum of 1 year in the industry
- High level of sewing skills, hand finishings and excellent attention to detail with a great eye for for shape and proportion
- Experience of pattern drafting and working with a wide variety of fabrics including woven and stretch
- Ability to manage time efficiently, be flexible, hardworking, reliable and remain calm under pressure
- Be able to work independently and as part of a small team
