**Pre-school Department**

You must have successful experience in managing and leading a large team and experience working in an early years setting at a senior or lead practitioner level. You must also be able to demonstrate experience in successfully delivering the Curriculum for Excellence.

We are looking for someone to be enthusiastic, reliable, self-motivated and committed to high levels of customer service with a proven ability to maintain positive and supportive relationships with children, colleagues and parents. You will lead and motivate a growing team or practitioners, encouraging positive relationships, and the creation of a warm and stimulating environment for growing minds to develop.

**Key elements of the post**:

- Key elements of the post are for you and also how you should support your team.
- Plan, observe, evaluate and reflect on learning experiences for the children.
- Ensure activities are age/stage appropriate and/or appropriate for the individual child.
- Ensure that children are actively engaged in activities indoors and outdoors.
- Ensure the health and safety, cleaning & outdoor checklists are carried out prior to the nursery opening and where applicable throughout the day.
- Positively communicate with parents/guardians to ensure we are up to date with the child’s routine i.e. sleep patterns, mealtimes development etc.
- Ensure floor books, self-evaluation, playroom practice observations are up to date and reflects the children's voice.
- Work as part of a key worker system, ensuring you know your key children's individual needs, next steps and achievements.
- Effective use of Edinburgh Council toolkits and contribution towards self-evaluation across the nursery setting, using How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare and Building the Ambition.
- Be a reflective practitioner who will role model and work with a team.
- Adhere to St Margarets Nursery & Pre-school's policies and procedures.
- Always have a polite, professional and approachable manner.
- Create a safe and stimulating learning environment and provide a high standard of care for the children.
- Keep up to date with all Early Years documents, regulations, Child Acts, and new policies and procedures that are regularly changing.
