We have an exciting opportunity for a BANK Support Worker to join our inspiring and friendly team at our Somerset Service.

Your role will be a fixed based position working from our Somerset Additional Housing Service in Yeovil. You will work as and when required by the service on a bank contract with a salary of £9.91 to £10.88. You can read more about the rewards you will receive on the full advert on our website.

In Yeovil, Rethink Mental Illness has 4 separate low-need supported housing services for people aged 18 years and over who are affected by mental illness.

The services provide housing-related support to people who are at risk of not accessing or sustaining a home because of their mental health, vulnerability and/or a history of housing-related problems. People can stay in the service for up to two years, with the aim being to move people on to lead more independent lives in their own accommodation. Service users can also be signposted to appropriate services for other, none housing-related support

How will you make a difference?

Provide key worker support to individuals living with mental illness, including one to one individual or group support, liaising with other mental health agencies on behalf of people who use our services

Enable individuals to self manage their personal and domestic resources and to undertake activities of daily living

Develop a rapport based on respect and honesty, the post holder will at all times work within clear professional boundaries and the Rethink Mental Illness Code of Conduct

Enable and encouraging individuals to find out about local services and facilities within their community and facilitate access to alternative services where specific needs are identified

Familiar with individual Care/Recovery Plans and support people who use our services in achieving their goals

Carry out all needs assessments, individual safety and support planning within organisational and legislative requirements.

Work with service users in developing, reviewing, monitoring and adapting support and safety plans

Liaise with other external agencies, complimentary therapies and community groups on behalf of people who use our service.

Who am I?

Experience of providing support to people with a mental illness; or experience of providing care and/or support services within another social care setting in either a paid or voluntary capacity.

Knowledge and understanding of recovery principles and embedding the ethos of recovery into your own practice.

The ability to make a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans to meet these needs.
