Job Title: Apprentice Library Assistant x 2
Location: St Albans
Starting Salary: £21,189 with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £22,369 per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: 2 x Fixed term apprenticeship (18 months) until 31.08.2024

This is an exciting opportunity to join the busiest library in the county and learn about how libraries run. As this is a Level 3 Apprenticeship opportunity, it will involve approximately 6 hours off-the-job training per week. In work training will alsobe given.

The post holder will work as part of a team, helping to make the resources of the library and information services available and promoting to all customers including those at a disadvantage. They will be required to deliver a high level of customer serviceby assisting members of the public and providing support for specialist library staff.

This post involves working Monday through to Friday, and Tuesday through to Saturday alternate weeks. Tuesday evening work is until 7.15pm. Please ensure that you are able to work these hours before applying.

As an apprentice, you will get to visit and work at many of Hertfordshire’s Libraries and experience the different levels of libraries that we have. You’ll have an opportunity to try out equipment and learn new skills in our CreatorSpace, including filmmaking, 3D printing and digital embroidery. As well as contributing to countywide working groups e.g. the Summer Reading Challenge, diversity and inclusion, health & wellbeing etc.
