Key Role Objectives
Assist and support with the day to day duties on the farm, ensuring the bird reared are of the highest welfare standards and meeting the required specification in terms of welfare, weight, quality and cost efficiency.
Whilst providing assistance to the farm team across a wide variety of farm activities, the Farm Worker role provides an ideal stepping stone to a career in chicken production.
Your Role and Responsibilities
Bird Welfare
- Supporting the farm team in the day to day running of the farm to produce chicken to the highest welfare and production standards
- Ensure biosecurity measures are adhered to in order to help keep the birds free from harmful diseases
Bird Husbandry
- Follow instructions and guidance given by the Farm Manager
- Assist in managing the litter in the poultry houses ensuring the birds are kept on dry litter
- Assisting in the preparation to receive chicks and also to prepare birds to be caught when they are ready to leave the farm
- Assisting in the keeping the poultry houses, control rooms and farm tidy and well maintained
Personal Safety
- Observe and maintain safe working practices
- Ensure protective clothing and masks are worn for the tasks they are required
- Ensure Site security is maintained at all times by keeping houses locked and secure
**Requirements**:
- No prior experience is necessary as training will be given through on-the-job training as well as through our company and industry training programmes
- A keen interest in chicken farming where animal welfare is of the utmost importance
- The ability to be a team player and have a flexible approach since the hours required varies throughout the flock. - The ability to be flexible to working hours and able to work weekends
- Willingness to undertake any other duties required to fulfil the needs of the position
