This exciting role requires team working and excellent organisational, communicational, and interpersonal skills.

Applicants should have previous relevant administration experience and have a proactive approach to a rapidly changing service. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a range of varied administration tasks, supporting the medical team daily. There will be collaborative working with other members of the multi-disciplinary team relating to transcribing patients’ past medical history and producing the discharge letter. Utilising Trust systems to check patient data/information is correct. Ensure that a co-ordinated and streamlined administrative process revolves around the patient and their individual needs.

You will also provide support to the nursing and administration teams within Ophthalmology as and when required.
- Data inputting onto the ophthalmic local systems, Careflow and Medisight.
- Create collections on Mediviewer for patients' appointments.
- To initiate the discharge summary and transcribed findings.
- Work collaboratively with other health care professionals, to ensure the relevant information is captured for coding purposes.
- To input and check all patient data is correct, utilising trust systems and reports so that a streamline administrative process revolves around the patient and their individual needs.
- Prepare and organise patient notes prior to theatre, minor operations, and laser clinics.
- To process confidential patient sensitive documentation.
- Maintaining records and assisting patients/visitors with queries.
- To participate in the training of new team members if requested.
- Act in ways that are consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures for maintaining own and others’ health, security, and safety.
- Act responsibly as a team member and always seek help and if required.
- Act in ways that respect diversity and values people as individuals.
- The ability to work unsupervised, be responsible for own workload and quality of work. Be able to work as an individual and as part of a team.
- To interact with patients and relatives when required.
- Be able to offer a degree of flexibility in working hours.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) safeguards the handling of information held in both electronic and manual filing systems and it is the duty of all staff employed by the Trust to:

- It is a requirement of employment with the Trust that you must comply with the obligation of confidentiality in line with our Staff Privacy Fair Processing Notice, Patient Privacy Notice and Information Governance policies and procedures.

All staff have a responsibility to ensure that personal data is accurate, held securely and consent is gained (where appropriate).
- The Trust requires all roles requiring DBS check, to have a satisfactory DBS recheck every three years
- The Trust requires require all new starters to subscribe to the DBS update service where it is a requirement of the role.
- Be responsible for maintaining own vaccinations/Hepatitis B immunity.
- Safeguard patient confidentiality always including adherence to the Data Protection Act.
- Attend the Trust statutory refresher courses as necessary
- Be aware of the responsibility of all employees to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard, and in accordance with current quality initiatives within the area of work and the Trust Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy.
- Have a commitment to identifying and minimising risk, report all incidents and report to manager any risks which need to be assessed.
- Any other duties commensurate with the grade and in line with the requirement of the post.
