The Lothian Birth Cohorts group within the Department of Psychology of the School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences is seeking a Research Assistant on a full time, fixed term basis until August 2025.

**The Opportunity**:
We are looking for a Research Assistant to support the Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 (LBC1936) study (further details can be found in the link here ) jointly funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and by Age UK (as part of The Disconnected Mind research programme).

The post holder will primarily provide administrative support including organising follow-up telephone calls and appointments for study participants, collation of scientific testing materials, conducting study assessments including cognitive testing of LBC1936 participants at approximately age 88 years, and other associated administrative and data entry duties.

**Your skills and attributes for success**:

- A high level of understanding of research planning and procedures.
- Proven experience of working within a clinical environment, to established protocols and procedures, where established scientific methods are translated to project/data processes.
- Demonstrable understanding of research planning and procedures for large scale, multidisciplinary studies, such as understanding complex decision making hierarchies and how to respond to decision making when dealing with various research sites and stakeholders in order to ensure smooth running of the project.
- Experience in administering cognitive tests in adherence with established research procedures.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheet software.
