Trainee Buyer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the purchasing department of a fresh produce business in Evesham. As a Trainee Buyer you will manage the logistics and supply of fresh produce, in line with customer specifications. This is a full-time permanent role, working in the office Monday - Friday. Working hours are 8am - 5pm, with occasional weekend work required, on a rotational basis.

**Salary: £ 25,000 per year plus company benefits**

**The Role**

Gain a working knowledge of all systems and procedures that relate to the buying function
Source, negotiate and place orders at an agreed price from a given country of responsibility
Check stock of product against daily sales
Undertake training towards being responsible for consignment profitability
Amend spreadsheets and SAP records as required
Check invoices from freight companies and suppliers
Check and calculate duty payable on consignments
Build and maintain effective working relationships with agents and shippers
Train towards developing new sources of business whilst encouraging the development of existing supplier
Create purchase orders for the sales programme in line with Managers requirements
Develop and appreciate cultural, economic and environmental factors that may impact the business

**The Person**

This person will have excellent communication, analytical, IT and liaison skills
Be a confident team player, who is able to brief colleagues, analyse information and prioritise
A reliable, self-motivated and flexible person
Educated to A-Level standards as a minimum
It would be beneficial to speak a second language
Previous experience working in a buying environment would be desirable also
