AHP Workforce Programme Lead, Band 8a (22.5 hours a week)

The main purpose of this role is to provide senior AHP leadership capacity within GHFT to support the development of the AHP workforce.

The role of the AHP Programme lead is to develop and manage a programme of work that supports the development of the AHP workforce across the Trust. The post holder will also develop an organisational level AHP strategic workforce plan (to be aggregated at ICS, regional and national level). The post holder will work with AHP leads to identify further programmes of work to support workforce priorities across the system.

Flexible working pattern required

As a member of the AHP Council the post holder will work with colleagues across Gloucestershire ICS to build a shared purpose and commitment to support AHP workforce transformation and build a strong, sustainable AHP community across Gloucestershire.

The post holder will work with staff at all levels to understand what is important to them to develop and identify exemplar practice to support recruitment and retention of staff.

The post holder will work with service leads, Recruitment and HR to develop recruitment and marketing initiatives. Developing marketing materials and identifying and delivering recruitment programmes and where necessary specific recruitment and retention schemes.

Work with Education and Apprenticeship leads to develop a strong career framework for registered and support worker staff.

Post holder needs to be a member of one of the fourteen recognised AHP professions registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Must have current registration, qualified to Degree level with further study/qualification to M level.

Extensive years of experience working in the NHS, demonstrating experience of multi-professional working with clinicians and operational staff groups, securing early and consistent engagement.

The post holder will manage a programme of activities to support the continued delivery of an AHP Workforce Strategy and the development of AHPs within the organisation.

GHNHSFT is an acute trust based across 2 sites, Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucester Royal Hospital.

The post-holder will work closely with the education leads, workforce lead and managers of all allied health professions in the trust as well as the practice development team for nursing.

The post-holder will develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships across our Trust, being a visible and accessible presence, and promoting inclusion of AHP’s at every opportunity.

KEY RESULT AREAS

The post holder will manage a programme of activities to support the continued delivery of an AHP Workforce Strategy and the development of AHPs within the organisation.

Specific work;
- To be the expert AHP in understanding the requirements of the AHP workforce enabling the delivery of a workforce strategy
- Influence the development of the clinical workforce through the development of a career framework supporting role redesign.

Implementation of Band 5 to Band 6 professional pathways, the development of enhanced practitioners within each profession

Development of management career pathways with AHP professions.

Linking with the Advanced Clinical Practice lead.
- To collaborate effectively with senior AHP clinicians and service/professional leads across the Trust, taking into account current and revised national standards, working across professional boundaries
- Develop, in conjunction with Finance and Workforce Information, a 36-month organisational AHP strategic workforce plan (2023 - 2026).
- Ensure recruitment practices are efficient and effective in attracting and recruiting new staff to the organisation. Work towards the goal of having a waiting list for staff to join the Trust.
- Support the introduction of new roles, inclusive of but not limited to AHP Apprenticeships; Support roles and Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
- To support the Chief AHP in ensuring we have an effective recruitment and retention strategy for AHP’s in the Trust with measurable outcomes.
- To work with AHP education leads to further develop initiatives that support the long-term recruitment and retention of AHPs. This may require influencing AHP education leads to ensure initiatives are implemented within their professional areas.
- Ensure the organisation is implementing the recommendations from the HEE RePAIR (Reducing Pre-Registration Attrition and Improving Retention) project.
- Work with the Equality and Diversity Leads and key stakeholders in reviewing the Trust’s equality and diversity agenda policies, frameworks and strategies as they relate to AHP workforce.
- Co-ordinate data gathering across diverse AHP professions to ensure that accurate data is provided in the right format to meet deadlines, and follow up and escalating as
