Assistant Brewer

**Basic Information**

- Part-time role: 15 paid hours per week, two days per week, Monday to Thursday.
- Full time role: 35-38 paid hours per week, four days per week, Monday to Thursday.

**Role & Responsibilities**

You will be an integral part of our small and friendly production team. You will be responsible for mashing, fermenting, distilling and bottling Cooper King’s delicious, Michelin star-class spirits.
- Essentials of the Job _
- Producing products to set recipes and standards.
- Cleaning and maintenance of plant and equipment.
- Undertaking routine quality control and calibration checks.
- Adhering to food safety, alcohol and health and safety legislation.
- Maintaining production records, carrying out data entry and stock management.
- Whisky Production_
- Brewing and distilling malt spirit.
- Filling, disgorging and routine maintenance of casks.
- Sensory analysis: sampling and monitoring of maturing and mature spirit.
- Blending, vatting, bottling and labelling product.
- New product development.
- Other Production_
- Assisting with production of non-whisky products, including gin, vodka, liqueurs and bottled cocktails.
- Distilling trial distillations using rotary evaporators.
- Bottling, labelling and packing products.

**Experience, Skills and Qualifications**
- Hands-on experience in brewing, distilling or other manufacturing industries is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to diagnose production issues and problem solve solutions is desirable but not essential.
- Computer literate: proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, and preferably familiarity with the Google Suite of apps.
- Strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent level of numeracy and literacy.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable with regular physical activity and manual handling (e.g. lifting 25kg malt bags).
