**About the role**
MAIN JOB PURPOSE**

This exciting new role within Crown Agents’ Climate & Energy practice will support the business globally in leading a best in class approach to sustainability and climate resilience.

Reporting to the Director of Climate Change & Energy, the Senior Sustainability Advisor will play a driving role in the development, delivery and regular updating of Crown Agents’ global sustainability and climate resilience strategy and action plan in support of the business’s commitment to responsible practice and Net Zero, and will work across the organisation to support effective implementation thereof.

The consultant will set targets, track and report progress, publicise initiatives, and collaborate across the global business on corporate sustainability and climate change standards, data collection and analysis, and problem solving. The Consultant will also help to anticipate, identify and address key sustainability-related business opportunities and risks, including legislation, industry trends together with seeking creative financing, funding or grant opportunities to support sustainability across projects.

In addition to internal-facing work on corporate sustainability and climate resilience, the Senior Sustainability Advisor will have the opportunity to work on Crown Agents’ sustainable supply chain and green procurement projects around the world and support the growth of Crown Agents’ Climate Change & Energy practice globally through contributing to business development and project delivery processes.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF JOB**

**The main responsibilities of the job include**:

- Development and maintenance of a Sustainability & Climate Resilience Strategy and Action Plan for Crown Agents’ global business, that incorporates and builds on our existing carbon and environmental policies and plans, in collaboration with business leadership and staff across the business.
- Establishment and oversight of a carbon tracking / accounting framework within Crown Agents that facilitates appropriate data collection and analysis.
- Coordination of corporate compliance with sustainability and climate change standards, targets, regulations and disclosure requirements.
- Reviewing and recommending sustainability and environmental standards and certifications that at corporate and business operations levels, and facilitating associated certification processes and associated reporting.
- Integrating sustainability, climate change, environmental and social priorities and risks into corporate governance platforms, systems and processes.
- Building capacity and providing technical support across the business for the adoption / implementation of the Sustainability & Climate Resilience Strategy and Action Plan, Carbon Reduction Plan, carbon tracking / accounting framework, and integration of sustainability approaches into business practices.
- Contribution to business competitiveness and business winning processes by providing written input into tender proposals, fundraising brochures and communications materials.
- Networking and outreach.
- Provision of technical sustainability advisory / consulting services as part of Crown Agents projects and programmes - for example in sustainable global supply chains and logistics, green procurement, training and professional development materials, and in climate change related projects.

**Safeguarding**
- Being aware of and compliant with all the standards following Safeguarding procedures and policies. Promote Crown Agents’ speak up culture in order to protect the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults

**About you**
Qualification**
- Typically a Masters degree in sustainability or associated discipline is required, or equivalent work experience.

**Experience**
- An experienced professional with a proven track record in corporate sustainability strategy and reporting, preferably for at least one business of similar size and geography to Crown Agents.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory environment and sustainability-related reporting and disclosure frameworks / voluntary standards and ratings and rankings in particular: ESG, GRI, TCFD, FTSE4Good, ISO14064, ESG, Net Zero and CDP.
- Demonstrated technical expertise across the following areas:

- Sustainability strategy and processes, including using scenario planning, preferably in procurement and global supply chains
- Lifecycle analysis, materiality assessment and gap analysis
- An understanding of carbon footprinting approaches and methods, including Scope 3, for global supply chains and logistics
- Preparation of carbon emissions reductions plans, climate risk reduction plans
- Selecting responsible carbon offsets to achieve net zero targets
- Climate risk assessment for business operations and supply chains
