**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title: Pub Supervisor**

**Reports to: Pub Owners/ Pub Manager**

**Job Purpose**:

- To deliver excellent service to customers.
- To effectively supervise, direct and motivate the staff.
- To present a positive image of the organisation by being polite, friendly and helpful to all visitors.
- To assist with Cash control and maintaining stock levels.

Pub Supervisors who work for The Royal Oak are an integral part of the front of house operation. Supervisors are specifically responsible for delivering service by setting up and supervising the pub during the opening hours, dealing with a wide range of customers and functions. Shift patterns will vary.

**Principal Accountabilities**:

- To set up for events ensuring that staff and stock are organised for efficient service
- Ensure that licensing objectives are upheld
- Maintaining a smart appearance, following uniform regulations.
- Establishing customer requirements and dispensing beverages/ snacks promptly and efficiently, in a hygienic and attractive way.
- Informing customers of additional bar services such as interval drink ordering, promotions, resolving minor queries and customer complaints.
- To have thorough product knowledge to ensure customers are helped with their order.
- To ensure that beverages are served to the correct specification i.e. that the correct measures are observed and the correct glass is used.
- To follow the correct opening and closing procedures for each bar area and to assist The Manager in delegating jobs.
- When required, to be in charge of the bar at management request. Ensuring codes of practice are followed.
- To ensure that adequate stock and equipment is available before and during service.
- To ensure the security of stock and equipment at all times.
- Cash handling, counting floats and using tills responsibly.
- To uphold company policies regarding Drugs and Alcohol at work, staff drinks and wastage.
- To be fully aware of the company and personal responsibilities with regards to licensing legislation.
- Cleaning/ tidying of bar and catering areas, including the kitchen, cellar and dry stores.
- Assisting in staff training
- Assisting with delegation of breaks.

**Person Specification: Pub Supervisor**

A confident and experienced individual with excellent customer service skills and experience of bars, including cash and stock control procedures.

**ESSENTIAL CRITERIA**
- Good numeracy skills
- Substantial relevant experience to include: bar work and working in a customer oriented environment
- Awareness of licensing laws and regulations
- Staff training and delegation experience

**Work related experience**:

- Experience in a supervisory role
- Confident in communicating with a wide variety of people
- Proven ability to deliver excellent service to customers
- Experience with cash handling and till reconciliation
- Bars product knowledge and experience

**Disposition**:

- Flexible attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
- Ability to use initiative
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
- An ability and enthusiastic willingness to represent the organisation’s best interests at all times

**OUTLINE TERMS AND CONDITIONS -**

Hours: 40 hours per week

Contract Term: Fixed

**Salary**: £23,000 a year

Notice Period: N/A

**Salary**: From £23,000.00 per year
