As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team.

**Role Overview**:
As a Credit Controller at Access Training, you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the organisation by effectively managing and recovering outstanding debts. Your primary responsibility will be to recover historic debt from customers while adhering to UK legislation and best credit control practices. This position does not require prior experience in senior credit control roles, but 1 year of accounts and credit control experience is essential.

**Responsibilities**:
**1. Debt Recovery**:

- Proactively contact customers regarding overdue payments to secure payment arrangements.
- Monitor and maintain accurate records of customer accounts, payments, and outstanding balances.
- Conduct regular follow-ups and reminders to ensure timely debt recovery.
- Assess and implement appropriate collection strategies based on customer circumstances.

2**. Dispute Resolution**:

- Investigate and resolve any disputed invoices or discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Liaise with internal departments and customers to resolve payment issues and disputes effectively.
- Maintain professional and constructive communication with customers to promote positive relationships.

3**. Credit Control**:

- Conduct credit checks and assess creditworthiness of potential customers.
- Set appropriate credit limits and payment terms based on credit checks and internal policies.
- Review and update credit control policies and procedures in compliance with UK legislation.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to optimise credit control processes.

4. **Reporting and Documentation**:

- Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on debt collection activities, outstanding balances, and customer payment behaviours.
- Maintain up-to-date and organised documentation related to credit control activities.
- Provide regular updates on debt recovery progress to the finance team and management.

**5. Compliance**:

- Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, including but not limited to the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines, the Data Protection Act, and the Consumer Credit Act.
- Stay informed about changes in credit control laws and regulations and implement necessary adjustments to internal processes.
- Safeguard customer data and maintain confidentiality in accordance with data protection policies.

**6. Additional Responsibilities**:

- Perform any other reasonable requests or tasks assigned by your line manager to support the overall goals and objectives of the finance team and the organisation.

**Requirements**:

- A minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts and credit control.
- Knowledge of UK credit control legislation and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Resilience and ability to handle challenging customer situations professionally.

**Salary**: £24,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
