Do you want to advise ministers on promoting and protecting the UK’s economy and its competitiveness internationally in a fast-changing environment? If so, read on
International Group provides opportunities to work on areas including - spending control on international development, trade policy, climate change, health, cooperation on Ukraine, economic security, financial sanctions and tackling illicit finance. We also manage economic relationships with Europe, US, China and other advanced economies and emerging markets.
We build relationships with external and international partners and represent the UK in a range of international groupings and institutions, including the G7, the G20, the International Monetary Fund and at some of the Multilateral Development Banks. We also analyse international comparisons and the wider global economic context, including for fiscal events. Although international travel is an important part of some roles, it is not required for every role in the group and will be specified if required.
**About the team**:
The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) was created in 2016 to improve the understanding, implementation and enforcement of financial sanctions in the UK, to ensure that financial sanctions make the fullest possible contribution to the UK’s national security and foreign policy goals and maintain the integrity of, and confidence in, the UK financial services sector.
It strives to:
- raise awareness of and compliance with financial sanctions among various business sectors in the UK
- rapidly detect, respond to and address financial sanctions breaches and
- provide a professional service to businesses and others affected by financial sanctions.
OFSI works across government, including with the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office, Home Office, Ministry of Defence, Department for Transport and Department for International Trade, and with regulators and law enforcement agencies, those representing the interests of businesses and charities, and international counterparts, primarily in Europe and the US.
**About the Guidance branch**:
OFSI is recruiting for someone to lead the guidance team which sits at the heart of OFSI’s guidance, engagement and international unit. The guidance branch plays a crucial role in ensuring we optimally connect with our stakeholders and the public - central to OFSI’s ambition. The team works closely with policy and operational colleagues to monitor trends and sector sentiment. They are responsible for drafting, updating and issuing OFSI’s wide-ranging guidance products which are essential to supporting stakeholders to understand and implement financial sanctions. The team is always looking for new and innovative ways to communicate OFSI’s message to the right people at the right time.
